Pregnant a second time!

I am so thankful and delighted to be carrying our second child! For the first few weeks, I was fortunate not to have any symptoms besides fatigue, and with chasing around my daughther, it was easy to forget what was happening inside. Now at 23 weeks pregnant, there are many gentle reminders throughout the day of the little baby growing inside. Moving limbs, thirst and hunger, cravings, sore body parts, lots of extra pillows in bed, and frequent stops to the bathroom.

Comparatively, so far, both pregnancies have been almost identical. Except that my body remembered how to be pregnant, and thus the weight has been gained faster. Some of my maternity clothes that fit in my 7th month first pregnancy, were out-grown a few weeks earlier! C'est la vie! My weight will most likely plateau, and much of it will come off during labor and delivery and shortly after. I remember with my first, I lost 30 pounds almost immediately! And yes, there will be some left over pounds for nursing resources and perhaps a bit extra. For those who worry about pregnancy weight gain, please don't! Your body and baby will gain exactly what they need to be well nourished, as long as your diet and activity level are healthy.
