Active Birth

The "New Active Birth" by Janet Balaskas, was one of my favorite books that tremendously helped me during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Childbirth is an amazing adventure, and the body is an incredibly important vehicle that instinctively knows the way.

I practiced and taught yoga classes based on what I learned and what felt good at the time. By conditioning my baby-full body with movement and meditation, I felt prepared and exited as each week passed. I completely trusted and surrendered to my body, allowing my mind to go deep inside, focused and relaxed, letting it do what it is meant to do; birth my baby. Most of my labor was active; walking, standing, squatting, and kneeling, often changing positions and finally, in a supported squat, I delivered our baby.
