There are so many baby 'first times' that are all so exciting and new; changing a diaper, bathing, dressing, feeding, pumping, hugging, kissing, snuggling and so much more! The first time that I left my house by myself, was really scary and strange. During the first month after birth, I only left the house a few times, for shopping, acupuncture, and yoga class. I was on 'new baby pace,' and I felt completely out of place when I entered the real world. I was so happy to get home and hold my baby, only after an hour of being away!
Like many, I too went through a few days of crying for no apparent reason. Baby blues came and went, but the hormones were still trying to find their correct balance in me. After days and weeks of support and always someone with us, it was unfamiliar to be alone with my baby. The toughest was when I had my first overnight alone with our ten-day-old; together, we cried ourselves to sleep that night. Such first times are an opportunity for growth, and exploring within the weaknesses and strengths.
